TEENage Shaggy interview

The top song in the German Reggae Charts of 2009 is Long Time, Shaggy’s song on the Street Bullies Riddim! It is the overall #1 on the reggae charts. I Can’t Fight This Feeling, Shaggy’s song on the Baddaz Riddim, is at #11 in the year charts! Trend Charts.

UK end of the decade charts!
Shaggy and Rik Rok’s huge hit It Wasn’t Me is the #1 selling R&B single in the UK of the 2000s! It also is the highest selling non-tv shows single of the decade and the #1 selling single of 2001. The Shaggy & Rayvon single Angel is in the top selling singles of 2001 as well and comes in at #10. Wow, what an achievement!

The concert takes place on December 7, which is the first day of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change COP15. Chain of Hope charity
This week, medical volunteers from the Chain of Hope charity will perform heart surgeries for four days in the Bustamente Hospital in Jamaica on children who have had complex cardiac problems since they were born. Shaggy, who performed at the Chain of Hope fund raiser in the UK last week, spent last Sunday relaxing with the children and their parents ahead of the surgeries. That’s so nice! North Cyprus concert review and photo

I’m not sure if this is true, but according to several sources, Shaggy might be featured on Toni Braxton’s upcoming album. They did a song together a couple of years ago, which is called Christmas in Jamaica, and they might record a new song together this year again.

Shaggy returns to Romania on August 1
After the huge success of his first 2009 concert on July 10 at the Turabo Society Club in Bucharest, Shaggy will be back for another concert in Romania on August 1! This time the concert will be in club Bamboo, Mamaia, and it looks like he’s gonna bring his entire band. Sources Cancan, Revista VIP and (with pop-up ads but pictures as well) Mediafax. Shaggy will also perform in Club Heaven Outdoor in Timisoara, Romania, according to Agenda.ro (no MySpace confirmation yet for either of these dates).

Shaggy will perform his new hot single Fly High live this Saturday, June 6 at Das große Kipp-Roll-Fall Spektakel on Prosieben, according to der Medien Verwerter!

The spectacle will be broadcast live at 20.15h on Prosieben TV and will also be shown on tv in Belgium, Holland, Norway and Sweden. You can get more info on the Prosieben special site, where you can also get tickets for the event. F.Y.I. The Prosieben site doesn’t mention Shaggy’s performance (yet), nor does his official site.

Shaggy Parrot and the Reggae Band
Shaggy contributed to a beautiful book-and-CD set for children, which introduces them in a fun way to reggae music and educates them about pollution! Shaggy Parrot and the Reggae Band is a book-and-CD set for children from ages 0 to 8 years old. The story is about a waterfall in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, that is polluted by people. The waterfall feels sad about the pollution, so a team of sea animals try to cheer it up. Shaggy Parrot, whose voice is read by Shaggy, and friends make reggae music while they help clean up the waterfall.

The book has beautiful illustrations and the CD features 9 music tracks by Shaggy. The sales will benefit two of Shaggy’s charities, St Andrew’s Bustamante Hospital for Children in Jamaica and the Tatiana McIntosh Scholarship fund based in Florida. Shaggy Parrot & the Reggae Band is set to be released in November this year; it will first be available in Jamaica, after which a release in the US will follow.

Shaggy, Bligg and Elijah will perform on the 175 years of Zurich high schools’ existence celebration on this Friday, September 26. You can read more about it on Tages Anzeiger or the official site die Welt Verstehen and you can get tickets and more info about the open air concerts on die Welt Erleben. Shaggy’s performance is on the main stage and starts around 21.30h.
