Before Shaggy released his first album Pure Pleasure, including the massive hit single Oh Carolina, he was already recording music while serving as a Marine. Here’s a rare Shaggy song from those years that most of you probably haven’t heard – until now!

Shaggy recorded Put Down the Gun at the HC&F and INS studios in New York in 1991 for Signet Records. The song was produced by Sting International on a riddim by The Supreme Team. Check it out below!

Now let’s take it back to 1990, when Shaggy was recording music while he was still in the Marines. This was long before he had his first hits with Oh Carolina, Big Up, Bombastic, Angel and more and before he recorded his first album Pure Pleasure. Shaggy showed his dj talent and skills in these early recordings already!
