Shaggy Intoxication, Sumfest 2007, Rihanna Shaggy Umbrella Reggae Remix, anti-HIV message for MTV Staying Alive and Funkmaster Flex interview

Filed under: News — reggaevibesgirl @ 9:19 am

Shaggy’s anti-HIV message
Shaggy taped an anti-HIV pro-safe sex message for MTV’s Staying Alive (he recently also did an anti-hiv pro-safe sex song “A Nuh U, A Nuh Me” with Ninja Man on the Big Yard Riddim). For more information on the Staying Alive campaign and on what you can do, go to the Staying Alive web site, Shaggy’s message is there as well at the blog and at Vlog It.Intoxication
Shaggy’s new 2007 upcoming album Intoxication might be released in Japan on August 8, other countries might follow later in August or even later this year. Although most sources write Intoxication will be released internationally near the end of August, a couple of German music stores now have Intoxication slated for release in the second week of October! I don’t know how much the track listings (bonus tracks) of the International Intoxication album will be different, but once I have more information I’ll post it here! More about the Intoxication album (or you can go here for more info).

Funkmaster Flex interviews Shaggy on his career in music and his new 2007 upcoming album Intoxication at Funkmaster Flex’s Custom Car & Bike Show and the International Sneaker Competition in Hartford, Connecticut

Reggae Sumfest 2007 photo
Were you as curious as I was reading the Jamaica Observer’s description of the Reggae Sumfest 2007 in Jamaica (see my July 22 post)? Well, there’s at least one picture online right now, more will follow on several other sites. Pic of Shaggy, Ninja Man and more. I think Shaggy can wear orange clothes and still look good, don’t you?

Fan video to the already famous Rihanna and Shaggy Official Reggae Remix.
BTW This is not the full song, it was taped from a radio show. This tune is still an unreleased promo of which several different versions exist. The full lyrics to the song are on this site.

New Shaggy song: Video Light

Filed under: News — reggaevibesgirl @ 3:41 pm

Shaggy has a tune called “Video Light” featuring Voicemail on the new 2007 Big Yard “Gyal Whind Riddim”, which, as the title of the riddim says, is also the background riddim of Shaggy’s “Sexy Gyal Whind” (which you might know from his Ready Fi Di Ride / Sexy Gyal Whind single or as a bonus track on the UK release of the 2005 Clothes Drop album). The song was said to be on Shaggy’s 2007 forthcoming album Intoxication, but if you take a look at the track list of the Japanese version of Intoxication, it doesn’t appear to be on there. Rayvon also has a tune on the Gyal Whind Riddim which is called “Fire Burning”. Too bad Video Light is a Jamaican release only, it sounds pretty cool!

Listen to the songs on Big Yard’s new site.

[edit] This song is also on the Japanese Dancehall De Luxe Volume 2 cd, which features a lot more Big Yard songs:

1 We Like To Party / Shaggy, Maxi Priest, T.O.K. & Iceman
2 Video Light / Shaggy Feat. Voice Mail
3 Same Complain / Morgan Heritage
4 Fiance / Vybz Kartel
5 Your Smile / T.O.K.
6 Salsa / Voice Mail
7 Should I Tell Her / Rik Rok
8 Spy / Elephant Man
9 No Love Tonight / Cecile
10 That Girl / Kiprich
11 Show / Shaggy Feat. Rayvon
12 Sexy Lady / Shaggy, Brian & Tony Gold, Sean Pall & Will Smith
13 We Got The Flavor / Wayne Marshall/Ward 21
14 Almighty / Bounty Killer
15 No Quickie / Rayvon & Elephant Man
16 Step Up / Kris Kelly
17 Lock Like / Black-Er
18 Banging Tree / Red Fox
19 Don’t Wanna Be Alone / Ky-Enie
20 Rationalize / Brian & Tony Gold

Shaggy & Rayvon’s Baka?

Filed under: News — reggaevibesgirl @ 5:08 pm

The Japanese “Oldies but Badies” Vol. 1 mixtape by DJ Maximum, containing 80s and 90s dubplates, has a song by Shaggy & Rayvon that’s called “Baka”. I’ve still got to listen to the song, I’ve never heard of it (I guess there are still a lot of unknown Shaggy songs out there that aren’t known to many) so I wonder if this a dub version of “Big Up” that the people who released the album call “Baka” or indeed a yet unknown song. If you know… you tell me!
