Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival 2012
On Thursday night, the Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival opened celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jamaica’s independence. The night featured only reggae performances by among others Shaggy, Marcia Griffiths, Maxi Priest, Etana, John Holt, Mykal Rose and Christopher Martin and saw a record turnout.

Reggae greats honored at the Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival
Shaggy, Yellowman, Marcia Griffiths, John Holt, Maxi Priest, Richie Stephens, Derrick Morgan and Lloyd Parkes were honored for their past, current and future contribution to the development of Jamaica’s music at the Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival!

Shaggy’s performance
Shaggy gave a great performance! He entered performing Sugarcane, Strength of a Woman and Angel with Rayvon, after which he brought Tarrus Riley on stage for a live rendition of Just Another Girl (off Shaggy’s Grammy nominated album Summer in Kingston & the Kingston 13 Riddim, to be released on January 31)!

Tarrus Riley went on performing She’s Royal and Shaggy performed Bad Man Don’t Cry, What’s Love and his upcoming single Dame (to be released on the Summer in Kingston Lava Edition, in stores February 7) accompanied by Aisha Davis.

When the first sounds of Shaggy’s worldwide number one hit It Wasn’t Me were resonating through Trelawny, Shaggy brought another surprise guest on stage… It was Ne-Yo, who performed It Wasn’t Me together with Shaggy! Ne-Yo also performed Miss Independent and Shaggy and Tony Gold concluded the festival’s first night with Hey Sexy Lady. Attendees and live stream viewers say the concert was amazing!

Shaggy to perform at Dance for Climate Change concert, Denmark
The official Seal the Deal 2009 site announces that Shaggy, Akon, Denmark’s Rasmus Seebach, Nabiha, Austrian dance group My Excellence will perform at the Dance for Climate Change concert on December 7!

The concert takes place in the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen, Denmark on the first day of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (also known as COP15 / MOP5). Tickets will be available at Billetlugen.

The concert will be broadcast in a live web stream as well as on several tv and radio stations. You can view a PSA about the concert on YouTube.

Update: ‘As’ on D4CC Facebook writes you can watch the concert live at CITV / Satcom C3. I can’t check this info, but if you have satellite television you could try to watch it there. The concert will be broadcast later by tv stations around the world, among others DK4 (a Danish tv station), and it will probably be uploaded to YouTube as well.

Shaggy’s African tour, IRAWMA Marcus Garvy Humanitarian Award, Kofmehl and SeeFestTage photos and videos

Shaggy wins Marcus Garvey Humanitarian Award at the IRAWMA 2009
Shaggy was honored with the Marcus Garvey Humanitarian Award at the IRAWMA 2009 (International Reggae And World Music Awards) for his humanitarian work! Shaggy has been supporting the the Bustamente Hospital for Children in Kingston, Jamaica for years and he organized Shaggy & Friends, a huge benefit concert, for the hospital, he recorded a single with fellow Jamaican artists, Save a Life, for the cause and did much, much more. Congratulations on a well deserved award to Shaggy!

Shaggy’s African tour in May
Shaggy’s official Myspace has the following dates on which Shaggy will perform in Africa in May:

May 21 Fairground Holdings, Gaborone, Botswana
May 22 Harare Rainbow Towers, Harare, Zimbabwe – more info
May 23 Orange Karnival and Lugogo Cricket Oval, Uganda

This means both South African tour dates will probably not be taking place.

Botswana concert and tickets info
Shaggy will perform at Fair Grounds in Botswana on Ascension Day, May 21. He’s the first international artist to visit the country since Shabba Ranks’ visit in 1994! Tickets will only be sold before the concert from Orange shops for P220 and P440, starting April 24. Botswana Daily News.

Uganda concert info
Shaggy will perform in Uganda on May 23, at the Orange Karnival that starts at 9 am at Shoprite Lugogo. Later that day, Shaggy will also perform at the afterparty at the Lugogo Cricket Oval at 4 pm.
