Gregory Isaacs’ Thanksgiving Service
Legendary reggae singer Gregory Isaacs passed away in London by the end of October. Yesterday his funeral and the thanksgiving service for his life were held at the National Indoor Sports Center in Kingston, Jamaica. The service, ‘A Red Rose For Gregory‘, was filled with musical tributes from among others Shaggy, Ken Boothe, Etana, Carlene Davis, Freddy McGregor, Judy Mowatt, The Tamlins and AJ Brown. Shaggy performed a tribute to the Cool Ruler at the Thanksgiving Service, singing Gregroy Isaacs’ Front Door (I Don’t Wanna Be Lonely Tonight) and telling a personal memory. Shaggy wrote about Gregory Isaacs’ passing on Twitter: “R.I.P Gregory, Your music will live on forever.. My condolences go out to all of your family!” and “Took me a minute ..but the cool Ruler will be missed…one of the 1st person in this business to show me luv!! R.I.P. Gregory!!!”.

The Urban Vibe 2010 concert in Newark, New Jersey, has been canceled! Shaggy, Machel Montano, Nicki Minaj and Ciara were among the artists to perform at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on November 7.

Shaggy and Wyclef Jean live at the LIME Campus Crew Tour
Shaggy and Wyclef Jean did a surprise performance at the Waterford High School in Portmore, Jamaica on October 22 (Shaggy’s birthday)! The students went crazy when Shaggy and Wyclef entered the stage. Shaggy and Wyclef Jean performed several songs and Wyclef sang Happy Birthday to Shaggy. Here’s a video!

American Friends of Jamaica Fundraiser, Capitale, New York (October 18)
Shaggy has been involved in a lot of charity events, including the Shaggy & Friends benefit concerts for the Bustamente Hospital for Children. On October 18, Shaggy will perform at the American Friends of Jamaica 29th Annual Hummingbird fundraiser Gala in New York! The fundraiser gala takes place at the Capitale in New York on October 18. Shaggy’s Australian birthday party
Shaggy is turning 42 this month and 42 Below is throwing him a birthday party at the Good God Small Club in Sydney on October 14! Shaggy will arrive in Australia on Tuesday (October 12) and he’ll be checking in on Foursquare, and dropping clues on Twitter and Facebook as to his whereabouts.
