Shaggy’s Top 10 Dancehall Artists
Which dancehall artists had the biggest influence on Shaggy? BBC Radio 1 & BBC Radio 1Xtra broadcast Shaggy’s Top 10 dancehall artists last night! Shaggy talked about his beginnings in the music business and the dancehall artists who inspired and influenced him most. So… who are on top of Shaggy’s list and why? And what songs were broadcast?

Listen to Shaggy’s Top 10 to find out! The show is available online for 7 days. If you tune in to BBC Radio 1Xtra at 7 PM GMT tonight, you can hear Shaggy’s Top 10 live on air as well!

New song: Shaggy & Ricky Blaze – Wave
Shaggy recorded a new song called Wave with Ricky Blaze! The song was produced by Ricky Blaze and it’s featured on Ricky Blaze’s upcoming Party Vibe riddim (FME Recordings), which will be available on iTunes soon.

Sherman Escoffery premiered the new song on his MRI radio show at E2 On Air yesterday. Listen here! (Wave is on around 1 hour 13 minutes into the show)

EME Awards Text Voting
Online voting for the EME Awards is closed, but if you’re a customer of Lime or Claro telecommunications, you can still text vote for the EME Awards 2011! Shaggy is nominated for Artist of the Decade and International Artist of the Year! Shaggy & Alaine’s For Yur Eyez Only received a nomination for Best Collaboration of the Year as well. NBC Today Show / Smile Jamaica videos
NBC Today hosts Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb co-hosted a special edition of TVJ’s Smile Jamaica. Shaggy was one of the featured guests on the show. Segments of the show will be broadcast on the Today Show on NBC in May and the entire show will be posted on the Today show’s site! You can watch a couple videos of the show online already: mixing drinks, rum bar & Fired Up and Shaggy, Simon and Neville working the runway!

Gregory Isaacs’ Thanksgiving Service
Legendary reggae singer Gregory Isaacs passed away in London by the end of October. Yesterday his funeral and the thanksgiving service for his life were held at the National Indoor Sports Center in Kingston, Jamaica. The service, ‘A Red Rose For Gregory‘, was filled with musical tributes from among others Shaggy, Ken Boothe, Etana, Carlene Davis, Freddy McGregor, Judy Mowatt, The Tamlins and AJ Brown. Shaggy performed a tribute to the Cool Ruler at the Thanksgiving Service, singing Gregroy Isaacs’ Front Door (I Don’t Wanna Be Lonely Tonight) and telling a personal memory. Shaggy wrote about Gregory Isaacs’ passing on Twitter: “R.I.P Gregory, Your music will live on forever.. My condolences go out to all of your family!” and “Took me a minute ..but the cool Ruler will be missed…one of the 1st person in this business to show me luv!! R.I.P. Gregory!!!”.

Shaggy’s official MySpace confirms the following new tour dates in New York and Belgium and offers special price tickets to the Brooklyn Music Festival:

Shaggy organizes a Walk for Peace: Save Jamaica!
Jamaica has had a long standing problem with violence and after the recent shootings of dancehall artists Oneil (of the group Voicemail) and Mad Cobra, the entertainment community is planning a Peace March on May 23. Edit: please note that the Peace March has been postponed due to the recent unrest in Jamaica.

Shaggy, organiser and spokesperson for the Peace March, spoke to the Jamaica Star about the violence in Jamaica and the event he is organizing. You can read more in this article!

Upcoming concert dates
Here are some of the newly added 2010 Shaggy tour dates! So far the Raggamuffin Festival in Australia and New Zealand has been confirmed by Big Yard, the other dates haven’t been confirmed yet but they have been in the media.

Shaggy and Usain Bolt to Hollywood
The fastest man in the world, Usain Bolt, will play the turntables for charity at Jazzy T’s annual birthday celebration at the Seminole Hard Rock Opium Night Club in Hollywood on January 17. Shaggy will also be present, according to the South Florida News!

Raggamuffin Festival Australia and New Zealand
Shaggy, Wyclef Jean, Julian Marley, Sean Kingston, Steel Pulse, Lauryn Hill and Sly & Robbie will perform at the Raggamuffin Festival in Australia and New Zealand on January 23-31. For the exact tour dates and locations, here.

Youth View Awards 2010
Shaggy, Ding Dong, Tifa, Aidonia, Elephant Man, Voicemail, Etana, G-Whizz, Tessanne Chin and more artists will perform at the Youth View Awards 2010! And that’s not all, Shaggy has been nominated for awards in the categories of Celebrity Role Model and Local International Artiste of the Year!

Ragga Muffins Festival California
