The Observer pics and story to the new Church Heathen video. Apparently the video left the church and goes all the way to the Asylum night club and Quad, where the church goers have a party. Ninja Man will be present in it as a priest again, DJ Spice as “sista Gwen” and also “sista Pam” and “the Pimp” will be back. Mad Michelle, Sadiki and G-Unit, Sample 6, Black Blingaz, Shelly Belly, Cadillac Dancers, Dallas Dancers, Timeless and Shady Squad are among the dancers in the video. It’s all in the Jamaica Observer! And there’s also a story about the video shoot on Yard Flex, with a pic of Mad Michelle and the Dallas Dancers.
And then, some of Sunday’s live performance videos at the Best of the Best 2007 in Miami, Flrida, where Shaggy, Rayvon, Buju Banton, Mavado, Tony Matterhorn, Akon, Elephant Man, Wyclef Jean, Capleton, Bounty Killer, Lady Saw, Collie Buddz, Jovi Rockwell, Da’Ville, Bling Dawg, Jabba and Bobby Konders and more performed, are up. They’re just one click from this page!
After doing a controversial (alleged) interview with the Sun while in London (that was copied and translated by newspapers around the world), Shaggy sat down with Voice Online to tell them how Church Heathen came about and what’s the deal with Clothes Drop and his upcoming album Intoxication. Church Heathen apparently was partly inspired by Olivia from G-Unit and since Shaggy also wanted to reconnect with the dancehall audience and didn’t wanna come out again with a girl’s tune (he has done a lot of them) or a dance tune (as he says, he can’t dance), he came up with Church Heathen, which proved to be a big hit on the dancehall charts across the globe.
He left his former record company, Geffen, a while ago, since they weren’t properly promoting his former album Clothes Drop (which is so true) and they didn’t properly let him get back to his roots. This time around, he is releasing his new single and album through his own music label Big Yard and the well-known VP Records. The single Church Heathen will be out on June 4th; the new album Intoxication will be released this summer already.
And there’s other good news! After releasing his album Intoxication, Shaggy says he will do a lot of touring in Europe!

There are some more videos of Shaggy on MySpace which I thought I should mention here. First, there’s an interview by Olivea for T Vazo. It’s hard to understand what they’re saying because of all the background noise, but the visual is excellent and it’s interesting to hear some of interview anyway. Secondly, there’s another clip of Shaggy, Rayvon and band performing Angel live in Oahu, Hawaii in early May. Thirdly, I added an old video which was uploaded to MySpace recently, of Shaggy, Jean-Luc and Jeremy performing Hey Sexy Lady, Wild 2Nite and one more song on Star Acadmy. It’s not like this video hasn’t been uploaded to Youtube and other “channels” before, but hey, it’s one more video added to this post, right? Enjoy!

Shaggy reshot the video for his #1 hit single Church Heathen, which will be released internationally on June 4th, in the Asylum night club earlier this week in New Kingston, Jamaica. The video is a continuation of the original Church Heathen video, which has gained great popularity in Jamaica and abroad and features dancehall legend Ninja Man as a priest as well as other dancehall stars Baby Cham, Spice, Red Fox and Screechie Dan. The new video opens with a dancing scene, featuring over 150 dancers including Mad Michelle, the Dallas Dancers from Portmore, Timeless Dancers (with Doctor Bird), Black Blingaz (who also made a remix to Church Heathen) and Cadillac Dancers. Jay Will (from Game Over) once again directed the video, so you can expect to see more of it in high quality soon!
Access Entertainment is going to release a definitive version of the Blazing (Blazzin’) Riddim by Shaggy’s Big Yard label later this week. The riddim will include Goodie Goodie by Screechie Dan, How Does It Feel by Rayvon, The Shaggy & Rayvon Show by Shaggy and Rayvon, Blazing by Red Foxx and a previously unreleased song by Shaggy: Wanna Be.
Shaggy also has a new song on VP Records’ Reggae Gold 2007 Bonus DVD, which is called more Woman. You can listen to a preview here. Reggae Gold 2007 which features songs by among others Sean Paul, Cham, Mavado, Elephant Man, Buju Banton, Morgan Heritage, Jah Cure, Gyptian, Tessanne Chin, I-Wayne and Alaine as well, is scheduled for July 12 release.
Shaggy live on Freaky Fridays (Angel, It Wasn’t Me, Bashment Party and Hot Gal), Shaggy featuring NaSha live in Oceana, Kingston (Wild 2Nite) and Shaggy live at Robbo Ranx’s show (Church Heathen, Hot Gal and Big Up).
And oh yeah, did I mention yet that Shaggy’s new album Intoxication is due on July 18 according to several cd stores? It’s only about a two months’ wait! Yay for Shaggy featuring Akon, Collie Buddz, Sizzla, Rayvon, Na’Sha and more!

I was too tired last night to write something on here while Robbo Ranx’ show Dancehall Splurt was on BBC 1Xtra, but here it finally is: Robbo Ranx did an interview with Shaggy last night and was the first to play Shaggy’s title song on his new upcoming album Intoxication! The riddim sounds hard, the lyrics are baaadd.. basically, Intoxication is a hot hot song!!
(although I have to say that I also like one of his other new tunes with Red Fox and Screechie Dan, “Girls Like”, very much).
“I ain’t never gonna drink again
before I take a sip I’m gonna think of when
I had s’ex with my woman best friend
I can blame intoxication
ain’t never gonna drink again
before I take a sip I’m gonna think of when
I had s’ex with a girl I considered a friend
I can’t blame intoxication”
Robbo also played Shaggy’s tunes on the VIP Riddim, Hear Dis and Rub a Dub We Want, Angel and his big #1 hit Church Heathen (twice), which is currently number one again on the British dancehall charts. Both Shaggy and Robert Livingston, Shaggy’s long time manager on Big Yard, confirmed that Shaggy’s album is due on June 4th, which means it will be in stores in July 2007!
Listen to last night’s Shaggy interview and Intoxication here
Note: Thursday’s Dancehall Splurt will only be up for a week from now, until the next show has been broadcast!
I hadn’t linked the interview Robbo did a couple of weeks ago for Dancehall After Dark, and I found the former 1-part interview has been replaced by two parts. So if you wanna hear them or the other interviews Robbo Ranx did with Elephant Man, Sean Paul, Beenie Man and King Jammys, go here, they’ll be available for a longer time than last night’s interview!
If you want to learn more about Shaggy’s upcoming album, you should check out the Kenyan Nation Media’s Buzz interview with Shaggy’s Big Yard label mate Goldenchyl (GC). Beside working with Beyonce and Shakira (on the Beautiful Liar remix), Foxy Brown, John Legend, Bad Boy P. Diddy, Wyclef Jean and Elephant Man (on Ele’s latest single Five O), he also worked with Shaggy on Church Heathen, Broadway, Me and My Boy, Dwayne and another song on Intoxicated. In the interview he tells more about Shaggy’s upcoming album – – and when I have more time I’ll even link two new full Shaggy interviews, both 2 hour’s length of Shaggy music and talking!
Shaggy’s reportedly finishing up the last touches on his forthcoming 8th album Intoxication, which he recorded and produced exclusively with his in-house staff and close friends. There’ll be one track on the album featuring both Sizzla and Collie Buddz, another one with Akon and two other tracks featuring Na’Sha. The latter two tracks are titled Those Are the Days and A Woman’s Scorn. Of course, Shaggy’s big big hit Church Heathen will also be one of the songs on the album. According to VP Records, which will distribute the new Shaggy cd, Intoxication will be in stores (at least on VP Records and iTunes) in August 2007!!
Cellphones rule! Even more people uploaded mobile phone shot videos of Shaggy’s concert in Hawaii a couple of days ago and of course I posted them here. So here we go: Shaggy, Rayvon, Na’Sha, Brian & Tony Gold (I think it’s them) and more performing Big Up, Oh Carolina, Angel, Strength of a Woman, Shaggy’s new big hit Church Heathen, Hey Sexy Lady and Bashment Party. Enjoy!
I found one more video of Shaggy’s Hawaiian concerts, a performance of Lucky Day (“if you’re looking for a man to make you lose control, a man who when you need a friend will fill that roll, be a life blanket when you’re feeling cool, girlfriend, this is your lucky day”). I also linked a fan made video of Collie Buddz Mega Star Remix of Come Around featuring Shaggy. If you want to listen to just the song you should visit Collie Buddz’ MySpace.Enjoy!
More videos have been uploaded of Shaggy’s Hawaiian concerts as well as his concert in Santa Lucia (Saint Lucia). Actually, I’ve been sitting on one of the Santa Lucia videos for a few days, so I also added that link here. Wanna see and hear Shaggy perform Angel, Strength of a Woman, Wild 2Nite, Hot Gal, Boombastic and more, together with among others Rayvon and Na’Sha?
Shaggy performed on the Big Island last night, and lots of videos of his performance have been uploaded already. I’ll give you a selection of the best links right here, where you’ll be able to watch Oh Carolina, Strength of a Woman, In the Summertime, It Wasn’t Me, Angel, Boombastic and last but not least Church Heathen performed on stage in Kona Hawaii. Enjoy!
