Shaggy and Jahcoustix shot the video to their upcoming charity single World Citizen at the O2 World Arena in Berlin, Germany last Saturday! The single is a big party tune with a message, which is set to be released on April 13. All proceeds will go towards the Think Big Project, which supports young people’s ideas to create a better world!

Congratulations and much respect to Shaggy! He won the Celebrity Role Model Award at the Youth View Awards!

Shaggy has been supporting the Bustamante Hospital for Children for over 10 years. In 2009, he organized the first out of three Shaggy & Friends charity concerts for the hospital, raising over $90 million JMD to date! He’s already planning a fourth charity concert for the hospital, which might take place later this year. Shaggy has also contributed to other charities and charity events, such as the Haiti Relief Fund, Chain of Hope and Food for the Poor (and more).

Grammy Awards Weekend: The Roots Jam Session!

Shaggy, Rahzel, Dez Duron, Jaiden, Bilal, India Irie, Pras, Elle Varner, Trombone Shorty, Childish Gambino and Bill Maher were among the artists to perform at the Grammy Awards weekend’s 8th annual The Roots Jam Session! Shaggy mashed up the place when he entered the stage singing Boombastic to Rahzel’s beatboxing, followed by a performance of Angel and It Wasn’t Me and a dancehall freestyle. Shaggy & Friends charity concert raises $32 million for Bustamante Hospital for Children!
The third installment of the Shaggy & Friends charity concert for the Bustamante Hospital for Children raised $32 million (JMD) for the Bustamante Hospital for Children in St Andrew, Jamaica! The concert, which was held on the Lawns of Jamaica House, featured artists such as Shaggy, Tarrus Riley, Romain Virgo, Tami Chynn, Wayne Marshall, Tifa, Future Fambo, Maxi Priest, Eve, Half Pint, Agent Sasco, Mr Vegas, Gyptian, Cocoa Tea, Beres Hammond and Lauryn Hill. It was the biggest of the three so far.

Shaggy announced the results at a press conference, held at the Bustamante Hospital for Children. The proceeds will furnish the pediatric hospital’s new ICU/cardiac ward in partnership with Chain Of Hope Jamaica, a group of volunteer doctors and nurses who perform surgeries each year on our children with heart problems.

Shaggy says: “I am heartened by the outpouring of support this year by so many Jamaicans and I pledge to continue to support this cause and encourage Jamaicans to do so as well!” Watch a video of the press conference below thanks to the Jamaica Observer, or check the photos on Caribbean Celebs

Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival 2012
On Thursday night, the Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival opened celebrating the 50th anniversary of Jamaica’s independence. The night featured only reggae performances by among others Shaggy, Marcia Griffiths, Maxi Priest, Etana, John Holt, Mykal Rose and Christopher Martin and saw a record turnout.

Shaggy, Yellowman, Marcia Griffiths, John Holt, Maxi Priest, Richie Stephens, Derrick Morgan and Lloyd Parkes were honored for their past, current and future contribution to the development of Jamaica’s music at the Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival!

Shaggy gave a great performance! He entered performing Sugarcane, Strength of a Woman and Angel with Rayvon, after which he brought Tarrus Riley on stage for a live rendition of Just Another Girl (off Shaggy’s Grammy nominated album Summer in Kingston & the Kingston 13 Riddim, to be released on January 31)!

Tarrus Riley went on performing She’s Royal and Shaggy performed Bad Man Don’t Cry, What’s Love and his upcoming single Dame (to be released on the Summer in Kingston Lava Edition, in stores February 7) accompanied by Aisha Davis.

When the first sounds of Shaggy’s worldwide number one hit It Wasn’t Me were resonating through Trelawny, Shaggy brought another surprise guest on stage… It was Ne-Yo, who performed It Wasn’t Me together with Shaggy! Ne-Yo also performed Miss Independent and Shaggy and Tony Gold concluded the festival’s first night with Hey Sexy Lady. Attendees and live stream viewers say the concert was amazing!
