Intoxication will be released in Japan on August 8 2007; the international version of the album will be released in the second week of October 2007 according to two articles.

If you haven’t heard Shaggy’s hot new tunes Bonafide Love (this song is also going to be on Shaggy’s upcoming album Intoxication) featuring Rik Rok and Tony Gold and Yuh A Move Hype on the 2007 Shanty Town Riddim a.k.a. Panty Town Riddim yet (or Da’Ville’s Fling It Up or Collie Buddz feat. Roache’s Sensimilia), you now have the chance to listen to the songs on Robbo Ranx‘s Thursday Dancehall Splurt (right at the beginning of the recording). The broadcast will be available until next Thursday, so you still have a week to listen to them!

And there’s more UK news, so UK readers listen up! Shaggy will be performing at the free Leeds Reggae Concert on August 26 in Potternewton Park in Leeds, together with Freddy McGregor, Mr Vegas, Wayne Wonder and a vast number of UK reggae acts. If you’re not from the UK or you can’t attend, there’s no problem, since BBC 1Xtra will broadcast the concert live!

(So I guess Shaggy’s concert in Trinidad on August 26 that Big Yard has on its site is not going to happen.)

A new interview article of Shaggy, Rayvon, Rik Rok and Notch at the Cayman Islands press conference including a large picture of Shaggy just got posted online. It’s all about music, go check it out here!

Some more articles about Shaggy’s upcoming performance at the Jamaican Independence Sunday Market at the lawns of the Organization of American States in Washington D.C. on August 5, which will celebrate Jamaica’s 45 years of independence anniversary, are online. Guess who’s featured in the new video from Da’Ville featuring Sean Paul, the Always on My Mind Remix? Yup, it’s Mr Lover Lover Shaggy! The song sounds good, if you wanna see Shaggy you can watch the video below!

Shaggy’s wild, enthusiastic performance at the Rototom Sunsplash 2007 was a big success and there are even more videos of it online now! First of all, there’s a video of Shaggy singing Boombastic at the sound check which is followed by an interview. In the interview, Shaggy compares the success of his music in Europe, the rest of the world and the U.S., he speaks about freedom of speech, he tells he’s against violence and gives his opinion on the current situation in Iraq, his experiences in the first Gulf War and the current global refugee problems and he also tells more about his upcoming 2007 album Intoxication and what the next single of his new album might be.

“We have more success in Europe than in America. America is such a big market, that we end up selling a lot more records, but we have more hits here in Europe. I think we have a very long and lasting relationship with Europe and the rest of the world.”

“The type of artists and songs is so appealing to the mainstream, but most of the time I don’t target the mainstream.”

Reggae Fest

Shaggy will be featured on the new album Let’s Get Physical by fellow Jamaican dancehall artist Elephant Man. The album, which is to be released in the first week of November, contains the track The Way We Roll (remix) by Elephant Man featuring Shaggy and Busta Rhymes . Elephant Man’s long overdue album (he was said to release an album called Ova Di Wall years ago, which would also have The Way We Roll Remix featuring Busta Rhymes and Shaggy and maybe P. Diddy on it, wasn’t released, Elephant Man signed to P. Diddy’s Bad Boy records and is now releasing his new album on Bad Boy) can be seen here, you can also listen to part of the track with Shaggy if you click on the third track on that page.

The song was already released on mixtape last year so here are part of the lyrics of the beginning, Shaggy’s part and the end of the song [lyrics are © of their original owners, no copyright infringement intended]. I’m not sure whether the song on Ele’s upcoming album will be exactly the same as the song I have, but anyway:

Shaggy’s anti-HIV message
Shaggy taped an anti-HIV pro-safe sex message for MTV’s Staying Alive (he recently also did an anti-hiv pro-safe sex song “A Nuh U, A Nuh Me” with Ninja Man on the Big Yard Riddim). Shaggy’s new 2007 upcoming album Intoxication might be released in Japan on August 8, other countries might follow later in August or even later this year. Although most sources write Intoxication will be released internationally near the end of August, a couple of German music stores now have Intoxication slated for release in the second week of October! I don’t know how much the track listings (bonus tracks) of the International Intoxication album will be different, but once I have more information I’ll post it here! Were you as curious as I was reading the Jamaica Observer’s description of the Reggae Sumfest 2007 in Jamaica (see my July 22 post)? Triveneta TV Italy Recap of Rototom Sunsplash
The Italian TV station Triveneta TV will have a daily 120 minutes recap of Rototom Sunsplash (where Shaggy, Rayvon, Na’Sha and Tony Gold performed as well) from today, Monday July 30, to Friday August 10 (weekdays only). Since Shaggy performed on the last day of the Rototom Sunsplash reggae festival, I think he’ll be on tv on August 10 but of course I’m not sure of that.

Direct 8 France Splash Dance
The French Direct 8 TV is broadcasting a dancing show from the beaches of St. Tropez, every Tuesday to Friday night at 20.10h (repeated at midnight and later at 17.30h). Shaggy will be one of the guests in this 40 shows program (I can’t tell you yet on what date).

It’s video time again! Here’s another video of Shaggy’s super performance at the Rototom Sunsplash 2007 in Italy. It’s the opening of Shaggy’s part of the show and Shaggy and Na’Sha performing Wild 2Nite. Shaggy has a tune called “Video Light” featuring Voicemail on the new 2007 Big Yard “Gyal Whind Riddim”, which, as the title of the riddim says, is also the background riddim of Shaggy’s “Sexy Gyal Whind” (which you might know from his Ready Fi Di Ride / Sexy Gyal Whind single or as a bonus track on the UK release of the 2005 Clothes Drop album). The song was said to be on Shaggy’s 2007 forthcoming album Intoxication, but if you take a look at the track list of the Japanese version of Intoxication, it doesn’t appear to be on there. Rayvon also has a tune on the Gyal Whind Riddim which is called “Fire Burning”. Too bad Video Light is a Jamaican release only, it sounds pretty cool!

In August, Jamaica will be an independent country for 45 years and celebrations are set to mark this independence anniversary. Shaggy will headline the annual Independence Sunday Market, a market that displays Jamaica’s cultural heritage, art and music. The all-day Jamaican festival takes place on the lawns of the Organization of American States in Washington D.C. on August 5. Source.
