Shaggy has done a promo shot for his upcoming 2007 album Intoxication and he looks pretty cool! I got one relatively large image for PR use, so you can check it out yourself!

Here’s a preview of the track list of the new album and the album cover, the cover is not the real one, but just to give you an idea of what it is going to look like big sized (no copyright infringement intended, image is copyright of its original owners, blocks were added, edited for preview use by shaggy.v3x.biz). Shanty Town Riddim, Leeds Reggae Concert, Cayman Islands interview and more…

Filed under: News — reggaevibesgirl @ 10:18 am

If you haven’t heard Shaggy’s hot new tunes Bonafide Love (this song is also going to be on Shaggy’s upcoming album Intoxication) featuring Rik Rok and Tony Gold and Yuh A Move Hype on the 2007 Shanty Town Riddim a.k.a. Panty Town Riddim yet (or Da’Ville’s Fling It Up or Collie Buddz feat. Roache’s Sensimilia), you now have the chance to listen to the songs on Robbo Ranx‘s Thursday Dancehall Splurt (right at the beginning of the recording). The broadcast will be available until next Thursday, so you still have a week to listen to them!

And there’s more UK news, so UK readers listen up! Shaggy will be performing at the free Leeds Reggae Concert on August 26 in Potternewton Park in Leeds, together with Freddy McGregor, Mr Vegas, Wayne Wonder and a vast number of UK reggae acts. If you’re not from the UK or you can’t attend, there’s no problem, since BBC 1Xtra will broadcast the concert live!

(So I guess Shaggy’s concert in Trinidad on August 26 that Big Yard has on its site is not going to happen.)

A new interview article of Shaggy, Rayvon, Rik Rok and Notch at the Cayman Islands press conference including a large picture of Shaggy just got posted online. It’s all about music, go check it out here!

Some more articles about Shaggy’s upcoming performance at the Jamaican Independence Sunday Market at the lawns of the Organization of American States in Washington D.C. on August 5, which will celebrate Jamaica’s 45 years of independence anniversary, are online. A good source if you wanna check out more links is at the Read Express by the Washington Post. There are also some announcements on the site of the Jamaican Embassy and the Jamaican Information Service.

As for the Singfest 2007 in Singapore on August 8, I got a couple of requests for the promo flyer. I heard you might be able to get the student discount flyer at HMV, but I’m not sure of that. If you want to know where to get your tickets and get the large flyer, go here. Flyer is © of its original owners, no copyright infringement intended.

Did anyone from Japan catch the MTV Japan Shaggy special yet? If you did or do, please let us know how it was!

I found a Rayvon & Rik Rok & Shaggy performance on YouTube that I hadn’t added yet, and there’s also a live interview video of Rik Rok, Shaggy, Notch at the VIP Party at the Cayman Islands concert last week:

Shaggy live video at Rototom and video interview

Filed under: News — reggaevibesgirl @ 10:20 am

Shaggy’s wild, enthusiastic performance at the Rototom Sunsplash 2007 was a big success and there are even more videos of it online now! First of all, there’s a video of Shaggy singing Boombastic at the sound check which is followed by an interview. In the interview, Shaggy compares the success of his music in Europe, the rest of the world and the U.S., he speaks about freedom of speech, he tells he’s against violence and gives his opinion on the current situation in Iraq, his experiences in the first Gulf War and the current global refugee problems and he also tells more about his upcoming 2007 album Intoxication and what the next single of his new album might be.

Here are some quotes:

“We have more success in Europe than in America. America is such a big market, that we end up selling a lot more records, but we have more hits here in Europe. I think we have a very long and lasting relationship with Europe and the rest of the world.”

“The type of artists and songs is so appealing to the mainstream, but most of the time I don’t target the mainstream.”

“I think everybody has an opinion and a right to an opinion. I’m not condoning any acts of violence towards any human being, whether young, old, race, black, white, other sexually oriented or otherwise. Inflicting any kind of harm towards any other human being is wrong. It gets us nowhere. You should be able to say what you wanna say, nobody should be chastised for their opinions. ”

“Music for me is spreading love and happiness to people.”

“My new album is entitled Intoxication, it is produced by Tony Kelly, Sting International, Robert Livingston, Christopher Birch, to name a few, featuring a song by Sizzla Kalonji and Collie Buddz, Akon on Give Me Some Blessings On It (on the Japanese track listing it is called What’s Love), a song with Shaggy and Rayvon of course, a Shaggy and Rik Rok collaboration called Bonafide Love which probably will be our next hit single, so all is well.”

And finally, there’s another video online at MySpace of Shaggy and Rayvon performing Oh Carolina and The Rivers of Babylon. The videos above are of much better quality, if you wanna see more videos please visit the July 2007 Shaggy news and videos archive.

Shaggy on Elephant Man’s Let’s Get Physical

Filed under: News — reggaevibesgirl @ 9:24 am

Elephant Man Let's Get Physical This is the Way We Roll Remix feat. Shaggy and Busta RhymesShaggy will be featured on the new album Let’s Get Physical by fellow Jamaican dancehall artist Elephant Man. The album, which is to be released in the first week of November, contains the track The Way We Roll (remix) by Elephant Man featuring Shaggy and Busta Rhymes . Elephant Man’s long overdue album (he was said to release an album called Ova Di Wall years ago, which would also have The Way We Roll Remix featuring Busta Rhymes and Shaggy and maybe P. Diddy on it, wasn’t released, Elephant Man signed to P. Diddy’s Bad Boy records and is now releasing his new album on Bad Boy) can be seen here, you can also listen to part of the track with Shaggy if you click on the third track on that page.

The song was already released on mixtape last year so here are part of the lyrics of the beginning, Shaggy’s part and the end of the song [lyrics are © of their original owners, no copyright infringement intended]. I’m not sure whether the song on Ele’s upcoming album will be exactly the same as the song I have, but anyway:

[Ele, Shaggy and Busta Rhymes] It’s the remix!
This is the way we roll
Everybody, let me see you clap
Everybody, let me see you clap (hey)
Everybody, let me see you clap
Everybody,
This is the way we roll
Everybody, everybody let me see you roll
Everybody, everybody let me see you roll
Elephant Man, Busta Rhymes now, Shaggy!
(Keep moving) Everybody, this is the way we roll!

[Ele] Well Wi want everybody fi throw dem up yep
If you own a car key, throw dem up
Bimma or Lex, throw dem up
An di key to the ex, throw dem up

[Shaggy] Ah! Yeah!
Ah yuh body telling me and Busta and Ele a telling me
initially that yuh haffi talking bout yuh lips
belly suh selly like yuh pregnant a belly
wanna stick up yuh figure with yuh belly suh jelly
now let me tell yuh how the way we roll
got to mend out just in case she call
body eyes out girl lace we roll
we gotta stuck out…
girl if you have the thing that man a chase (shake it up)
yuh have the fire inna yuh waist (shake it up)
body shaped out inna lace (shake it up)
yardie thing hot fi mek mi embrace
yuh know seh Mr Lover lyrically me bad
me giving you all the style me driving woman me mad
now let me see you roll over represent the flag
and ride it off now fi Shaggy and di Energy God

rolling rolling rolling rolling and rolling…

I also added the lyrics to Collie Buddz’ Come Around Remix featuring Shaggy. Thanks for the lyrics once again Paul. Stay tuned for a video of Shaggy live at Rototom Sunsplash 2007 and a video interview!
