Shaggy will be performing alongside Wyclef Jean, the Ska-Talites and Plunky & Oneness on the Kennedy Center’s South Plaza Stage in Washington on June 19. This event is staged in conjunction with the “Conference on the Caribbean,” and precedes the annual DC Caribbean Carnival. More info.

Shaggy, who will soon release his new album Intoxication which includes his big #1 hit Church Heathen, performed at the Best of the Best concert in Miami, Florida, which is pretty much obvious even if you have only been following this site. Well, there are a couple of more videos of the festival online, including Big Up, It Wasn’t Me en Angel. Do you wanna watch them?

Shaggy, Enrique Iglesias, Jojo, XZibit, Kelly Rowland, Sophie-Ellis Bextor, Rufus Wainwright and Good Charlotte among others, are helping MTV Networks International to generate attention for MTV Switch, a major climate change campaign aimed at slowing down the rate of global warming by encouraging their viewers to lower their carbon emissions and help save the planet.

The campaign is designed to reach an audience of 1.5 billion people world wide across the MTV network of 55 local TV channels in 162 countries. Among others, a “green” Pimp My Ride special will air and also Nickelodeon will participate by showing kids what they can do to help decrease their family’s energy consumption.

MTV produced PSA s (Public Service Anouncements) to connect with the audiences and show them how they can help lower their energy emission. The PSAs can be used by all other broadcasters free of costs and rights to serve this cause. The campaign will encourage people to visit the yet to launch MTV Switch web site.

Every time I go online I seem to find some more Shaggy in Dubai stuff. This time it’s something especially good: a video of the press conference! Shaggy was being his very charming self and answering questions as to what people can expect from his concert, the reason why he’s releasing a new album (Intoxication), the record company shizzles, what kind of person he is and more.

There’s also one more Dubai pre-concert article featured (I had seen it before but it looked so much the same as another article I had already linked), with two other pictures of Shaggy at the press conference and some more of what he told the press. “It’s all about the song”, he says.

“I have worked under five different record labels over the years which has resulted in a bumpy ride. But I was never willing to compromise the music for a look or policy. I’ve always stood by my songs and am proud to say that I have made it work and stayed true to myself.”

And last but not least there are also three new videos online of Shaggy’s performance in Dubai, at the Life Music Festival on June 7 2007 in the Madinat Areena. You can see Shaggy perform It Wasn’t Me and Boombastic (though the sound quality of the Boombastic video is pretty bad) and interact with the crowd.

As you read earlier, Shaggy’s currently in Dubai for his concert tonight at the Life Music Festival at the Madinat Areena, Madinat Jumeirah. Zawya has a promo for the concert with a new Shaggy pic from the press conference. What’s fun about the article, is that you can also download it in PDF format, including the pic.

Robbo Ranx played a dub version of Shaggy’s Church Heathen of Shaggy’s upcoming 2007 album Intoxication on the Tuesday Dancehall Splurt once again yesterday. You can listen to it here until next week’s show is up.

VP Records created a site about their soon to be released Reggae Gold 2007 album, which of course features Shaggy (More Woman). You can listen to some of the songs on the album there (not Shaggy’s), download wallpapers, see if there’s a Reggae Gold release party close to where you live and in a few days there’ll also be a contest. Interestingly, Shaggy’s song on the Reggae Gold 2007 album, is also listed on some of the latest dancehall radio only compilations that mention it as a new single.

Shaggy performing Boombastic and Wild 2Nite in Oceana, Kingston in May 2007 live videos are just one click away.

Right now, Mr. Lover Lover is in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for a concert tomorrow night at the Life Music Festival in the Madinat Arena, which also features DJ Bliss. In an interview with the City Times there, published just 10 minutes ago – yeah I’m fast :), he tells about the last news in his life. Intoxication is due for release in late August, as he says. The paper writes he has two sisters and one step brother as mentioned on Wikipedia a while ago and a cute dog named Sammy (I don’t know whether this info is true). He jokingly says he’s still single (yeah right. Men – or male artists who want to sell records – whatever!!). They also have a picture of him up and some more content. So if you want to know more, go read the article!

There have also been articles claiming Shaggy will be performing in Eindhoven, the Netherlands and in Sao Paolo, Brasil soon, but I have no idea of whether it’s actually “Mr Lover Lover Shaggy”, “DJ Shaggy” or someone else performing. Since I can’t tell you whether these events actually involve Mr Boombastic or not I’m not including them here – not yet anyway :).

Shaggy talks about feeling liberated from his former restraining record deal and tells about his upcoming album Intoxication, his new big hit single Church Heathen and reggae being in the best place it has been in years, as it is embraced by mainstream.
