Shaggy is doing a beautiful thing for the Bustamente Hospital for Children in Kingston, Jamaica, and you can help! The Bustamente Hospital is the main pediatric hospital in the West Indies, which' resources to treat children are stretched to the limit because of a lack of funding and facilities. Expensive medical equipment and a lack of public and private funding counteract the hospital’s ability to provide the necessary health care required to treat every child.
Shaggy has been supporting the hospital for years and he now created the Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation to help raise funds for the hospital to save many more children's lives. You can read all about it on Shaggy's official Shaggy Make a Difference Foundation site. It has information about how you can help and about Shaggy's upcoming benefit concert. The site also has a lot of photos and videos.
The Shaggy & Friends benefit concert will be held on Saturday January 3 2009 on the Jamaica House Lawn featuring
none other than Shaggy himself, Macy Gray, Buju Banton, Sean Paul, J. Holliday, Tony Rebel, Sean Kingston, Tarrus Riley, Luciano, Tesanna Chin, Da'Ville, Freddie McGregor, Etana, Allison Hinds, Elephant Man, Marcia Griffiths, Tyson Beckford and many more.
The gates open at 6 PM, the concert starts at 8 PM. Tickets are available at Susie's Bakery, White Bone's Restaurant and Music Mart at Twin Gates Plaza. All proceeds will be donated to the Bustamente Hospital for Children!

He announced his plans to stage a big benefit concert, to raise $2 million USD for the Bustamente Hospital for Children in Kingston, Jamaica. Shaggy will organize the concert on January 3 on the lawns of Jamaica House. The line-up hasn't been announced yet, but according to Dancehall.mobi and the Jamaica Gleaner big artists will be there: among others J. Holliday, Macy Gray, Sean Kingston, Alric & Boyd and Tyson Beckford and of course Shaggy himself.

Shaggy contributed to a beautiful book-and-CD set for children, which introduces them in a fun way to reggae music and educates them about pollution! Shaggy Parrot and the Reggae Band is a book-and-CD set for children from ages 0 to 8 years old. The story is about a waterfall in Ocho Rios, Jamaica, that is polluted by people. The waterfall feels sad about the pollution, so a team of sea animals try to cheer it up. Shaggy Parrot, whose voice is read by Shaggy, and friends make reggae music while they help clean up the waterfall.
The book has beautiful illustrations and the CD features 9 music tracks by Shaggy. The sales will benefit two of Shaggy's charities, St Andrew's Bustamante Hospital for Children in Jamaica and the Tatiana McIntosh Scholarship fund based in Florida.

Shaggy and Barclay will release a new Best of cd in France / Europe on September 1st. The album is called Best of Shaggy: The Boombastic Collection and features some of Shaggy's biggest hits to date such as Oh Carolina, Boombastic, In the Summertime, Angel, Hey Sexy Lady and Feel the Rush. You can view the cover on Fnac.com.
This is the second Best of Shaggy CD that will be released this year, the first one was released by Virgin Records today and is called The Best of Shaggy. You can view the cover and track list here (props to clothesdrop from the Big Yard board for linking this one first).

I've been getting a lot of questions lately about what song will be Shaggy's next single. I can't tell you more than I read or heard so far, which is this:
Shaggy´s next single in France (by his own words in an interview) is going to be Those Days featuring Na´Sha. Also, the earlier announced French What´s Love video featuring Lord Kossity hasn't been released yet, right?, although Mr Boombastic has a cameo in Lord Kossity's Le respect n'achète pas videoclip. His next single in Germany might be Mad, Mad World featuring Sizzla Kalonji and Collie Buddz - or any other song from his Intoxication album. His next international single might be or is going to be Body A Shake. So...there you have it...like it?
